What's Going on for Kids!






Getting Ready for Kindergarten – My Furry Friends
Thursday, January 4th
6:30 P.M. – 7:30 P.M.
Ages 3 – 5 years old
Join us as we have fun with our furry friends as a part of our yearlong Getting Ready For Kindergarten (GRFK) program. You must be in the GRFK program in order to participate. This program is funded by a grant from the Community Works fund from the Community Foundation of Kankakee River Valley. This event also takes place on January 25th (Fairytale Fun), February 17th (Super Hero Science), March 29th (Extraordinary Eggs), and April 26th (Hungry Caterpillar Fun).


Lego Building
Saturday, January 6th
1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M.
Our Lego building blocks and your creativity can only add up to lots of fun at the library. Join us and other Lego enthusiasts for an afternoon of building fun. For children in Kindergarten and up. This event also occurs January 13th, February 17th, March 17th, and April 7th.

Monarch Book Club
Saturday, January 20th
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
1st- 3rd Grade
Kids in 1st -3rd Grade have their own book club. We will read the book of the month at our gathering time and have a crafting session. This event will also take place on February, 10th, March 10th, and April 14th.


BlueStem Book Club
Saturday, January 20th
1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M.
Kids in 3rd – 5th Grade will meet each month to discuss a book from the Bluestem Award Nominee list. The book for the January meeting will be Stick Dog by Tom Watson. Books will be available at the Front Desk. This event will also take place on February 10th (Soar by Joan Bauer), March 10th (Dash by Kirby Larson), and April 14th (The Boy who Crashed to Earth by Judd Winick).

Valentine Craft
Saturday, February 3rd
1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M.
Kindergarten and up
Use your creativity on a Valentine’s Day project to take home. All supplies are included; there is no fee for the program.



Storytime
Tues., Feb. 6th
10:00 – 11:00 A.M.
Enjoy the mix of crafts, stories, and music to help young children develop a love for reading. Parents and guardians can bring their 6-months to 5-year-old children.
Also meeting on February 13th and 27th,
March 6th, 13th, and 27th
April 3rd, 10th, and 24th.

Tiny Explorers       Tues., Feb. 20th    10:00  – 11:00 A.M
Playing at a number of stations, children will learn fine motor skills with the help of manipulatives. Activities are meant for children from ages 6 months to 5 years old.
This program also occurs March 20th, and April 17th.



Friends of the Library Presents “Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss.”
Sat., March 3rd
1:00  – 2:30 P.M.
Children in Pre-k through 3rd Grade.
Help us celebrate reading on the anniversary of Dr. Seuss’ birth. There will be fun and games and crafts. 


Spring Craft Time
Wednesday, March 28th
1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M.
Kindergarten and up
Work on a fun craft best for springtimes. All supplies are provided, there is no fee for this program.

School’s Out Movie Day                                                                                 
Friday, March 30th                                                                                                                              1:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M.                                                                                                              
School is out! Come to the Library and watch a movie with your friends. Popcorn and Lemonade will be served.

Earth Day Celebration                                                                                        Saturday, April 21th                                                                                            1:00P.M. – 2:00 P.M.
Join us for an afternoon as we celebrate Mother Earth by creating recyclable art.    This event is for kids in Kindergarten    and up.
