FAQs

Limestone Township Library District is moving forward as we resume services for our patrons. We miss everyone and know that many of you have had many questions as to how the library will accept materials that have been out, if they can check out new materials, and if it’s possible to get a library card.

  • WHEN WILL THE LIBRARY OPEN?  
    Limestone Township Library District re-opened the library to the public on Monday, July 13, 2020.

    Masks are required to be worn within the building for the safety of patrons and staff. If you are unable to wear a mask, we are happy to provide you with your materials through contact-less curbside service.

    There are only 15 patrons allowed in the building at any given time in accordance with local government and public health advisory to help with social distancing. Patrons have a one-hour time limit within the building.

          The Library’s hours are as follows:
            Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays: 10:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.

                            Fridays: 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

                            Saturday: 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.

                            Sundays: Closed



    Senior and Immuno-Compromised Patrons Only Hours
                Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.


    All Ages Time Blocks

    Families with children will ONLY be allowed in the library on specific days as follows:

                Tuesdays from 10:00 A.M.  – 7:00 P.M. 
                Saturdays from 10:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. 

    Parents/guardians need to stay with children under the age of 14 while in the building. Families may also utilize the Contact-less Curbside Service during non-family hours.

    Computers may be used by appointment in half hour intervals two (2) times per day per patron. We clean keyboards, mice, and surrounding areas after each use.


    Copier and fax services   
                       
    It is possible to have copies made and to send faxes. Staff will make copies and send faxes per the patron's direction. Please ask for help if you are coming for copying or faxing services.

           
         Contact-less Curbside Services

    We are continuing to offer Curbside Services on demand. We will take orders by phone, email, or holds you are able to place on your Prairie Cat account. Once you receive a notice that your item is in, please call to set up an appointment. Please give staff 24-Hour notice so we can have everything ready on time for you. 

    We will put the bag of books through an open window on an available car seat or in the trunk of your car.

         


    • HOW LONG CAN I CHECK OUT ITEMS? 
    In order to offer our patrons excellent customer service including greater accessibility to all of our items, print and audio books may be checked out for 2 weeks with the ability to have two (2) renewals (if there is no holds on the item) adding up to a total of six weeks check out period.        

    DVDs will continue to be checked out for their usual 1-week time period. 

    Policy for the number of books to be checked out and the loan time have been changed as well. Adults may check out up to five items at one time, including books, audio books, and DVDs/BluRays. Patrons between the ages of 5 and 18 will be able to get five (5) DVDs/BluRays along with books, up to 20 Children’s, Juvenile, and YA items per family. 

    All items upon return will be placed in a 7-day quarantine period. You will see them on your record on Prairies Cat until their quarantine period is over.


    • HOW ARE STAFF MAINTAINING SAFETY FROM THE VIRUS? 
     The Library takes staff and public health safety seriously. Staff is cleaning with disinfectant wipes, and wearing masks when unable to maintain social distancing. All library materials are being quarantined for seven (7) days before being checked back into the library and placed on the shelves. Items distributed through our Curbside Service will be placed in bags and put in patron’s cars, preferably the trunk of your car.

    • WHAT IS THE DUE DATE FOR ITEMS I CURRENTLY HAVE CHECKED OUT?  
    Items being checked out now have a due date of two weeks for books, one week for DVDs. Once items are returned they will be in quarantine for seven (7) days. You will still see them on your record until the quarantine period is over. 

    • WHEN WILL THE LIBRARY OPEN UP LIKE IT WAS BEFORE THE PANDEMIC QUARANTINE?  
    We don't know the answer to that. We are listening to local health department officials and governmental bodies for the latest information so that we can open up services as safely as possible.

    At this time we have shortened hours, special hours for different populations, and available computer/copying services with new restrictions. As soon as we open more, we will announce it on our website, facebook, instagram, in newspapers, and on radio stations.
