“The only way to have a friend is to be one.” –Ralph Waldo Emerson

Mission Statement:

The Limestone Township Library Friends of the Library support and advocate for the patrons and staff of the Limestone Township Library by contributing to library programming, fundraising and enhancing the appearance of our library and community.

In the spirit of friendship…

We are the Friends of the Library. As a nonprofit corporation, we collect and administer gifts, bequests and other monies (outside of local tax receipts) that help make the library’s many programs become an integral part of our community.

These additional funds help out library buy more books and replace damaged books. We also support programs including art time, summer reading, fall festival, holiday party with Santa, and more.

Above all, friendship is a relationship…

Follow our link to see what you can do to help us support the Limestone Township Library.

Become a Friend of the Library

The Friends of the Library are people just like you who value the importance of the library. But more than that, we take action. For example, we have purchased most recently a new book cart for the circulation area in the library and have volunteered at many of the library’s children’s programs and book sales.

Our funds will help support:

-programs for art
-the one room schoolhouse
-the butterfly garden
-purchasing of books
-programs for adults

Joining is easy. Click to go to the Friends Form…

-do it online by sending email to info@limestonelibrary.org
-call 815-939-1696
-attend one of our gatherings on the third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the library.

Fall Festival October 11 with pumpkins in our garden!
It was a perfect day for a Fall Celebration of the rural life! As you can see below there were plenty of activities for kids and adults with the smell of baked goods drifting everywhere. Our one room school house was fun to show off and see how it used to be in Limestone at the turn of the century-the last one. Thanks to Sue for the photos

Friends of the Library Limestone Friendship Garden planting Apri 12th! We had a fun and fabulous time too! There were as many adults as children chatting and planting pots of veggies for the garden. It will be exciting to bring back those sprouted seeds to plant outdoors in the Library Friendship Garden. we were fortunate to have 4 Master Gardeners (Helen, Jan, Marti and Rick) from the U of I Extension Service to provide invaluable advice. Here are a few photos from the event.
