Fun at the Library!

Looking for ways to help the library by volunteering? 

Come to the next Friends of the Library meeting on Tuesday, May 2 at 6:30 P.M. as they plan various ways to volunteer and assist the library.

It’s Family Movie Night when we will watch Casper while eating popcorn on Wednesday, May 3 at 5:30 PM. All are welcomed.

 

May the Force be with you at our Star Wars Craft Party on Thursday, May 4 at 6:00 P.M. We are planning fun crafts to celebrate the Star Wars Fandom for all members of the family. All supplies are provided, there is no fee for this program.

 

The library will be closed on Saturday, May 6 for Staff Training. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The Herscher FFA club presents Storytime on Monday, May 8 at 5:30 P.M. This month’s theme is Farm Animals and the craft will be farm animal masks to make afterwards. 

Adult Book Club meets on Tuesday, May 9 at 6:30 P.M. This month we are reading Next Year in Havana by Chantel Cleeton. Copies of the book are available at the Front Desk.

National Library Week April 23- April 29

 

It's National Library Week! National Library Week is an annual celebration that takes place in April in the United States. It is a time to honor and promote the important role that libraries play in our communities. Celebrate this week with this Make your own book Take and Make craft. Available while supplies last.

We plan to edit and critique each other's work, becoming better writers in the process. When you sign up, please include your email address so we can send the writing pieces to be critiqued.

Secrets of a Puzzle Master: A Conversation with Will Shortz
Tuesday, April 25, 7 p.m.

Will Shortz, the editor of The New York Times crossword puzzle, and the world’s only academically accredited puzzle master, discusses crossword puzzles. The author/editor of more than 500 puzzle books, Shortz is also the puzzle master for NPR’s Weekend Edition Sunday and the founder and director of the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament, held annually for more than 40 years. Through his championing of puzzles Will has earned admiring fans from all over the world.

Join us on Thursday, April 13 from 5:30 P.M. – 7:30 P.M. for a Family Video Game Party. We will have on hand Super Smash Bothers Ultimate along with Mario Kart and Guitar Hero. Feel free to bring your own Nintendo Switch and joycons! Snack will be provided.

 

On Friday, April 14, pick up our Flapping Butterfly Take-and-Make Project. Supplies are limited. Come in to get yours before they are gone.
