Kankakee County Community Needs Assessment

Kankakee County's Community Needs Assessment survey has officially launched! 

It is open to the public COUNTY-WIDE!

The survey will HELP IDENTIFY AND TARGET LOCAL FUNDING by addressing the following:

  • Public safety
  • Workforce development
  • Business and economic development
  • Mental health
  • Childcare and youth
  • Housing
  • OTHER (To be addressed as results come in)  


 The survey runs July 12th – July 31st. We look forward to a great response.

This Week at the Library

 


We invite families to join us for Plaster Fossils on Monday, July 11 at 6:30 P.M. when we will make our own fossils using plaster of Paris.



The Adult Book Club meets on Tuesday, July 12 at 6:30 P.M. We are discussing The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion by Fannie Flagg. Books are available at the Front Desk.



Story Time takes place on Wednesdays.   We will meet at 10:15 A.M. in person with Mr. William to read an exciting picture book or two and work on a craft to help preschoolers discover the joy of reading! George, our giant stuffed monkey, will be in attendance for children who want to practice their reading skills by reading to George!


S.T.E.M.onade Stand

Every Wednesday, kids in 3rd grade and up can come to the library for a new Take-and-Make craft from our S.T.E.M.onade Stand. These bags contain items to make a fun STEM inspired craft. Directions included.   July 13 will feature Cup and String Telephone.


We are having a Paracord Bracelet Workshop on Thursday, July 14 at 6:30 P.M. for the entire family. Using a series of knots, we will create those popular bracelets with the nylon roping.



Join us at the library for Science Demonstration with Ms. Faith and Ms. Holly on Friday, July 15 at 11:00 A.M. Our intrepid staff members will demonstrate a science experiment using items you have at home. This program is for kids in 1st through 5th grade.




Adults can beat the heat by coming in for a few rounds of Euchre on Friday, July 15 at 1:00 P.M. 
Cards and drinks provided.





Summer Reading Program Finale
Saturday, July 16
12:00 P.M.  - 1:30 P.M.

Join us for our Summer Reading Program Finale by completing one Log Sheet of 300 minutes of reading time! The finale features Incredible Bats, who will present information about bats
and have other small animals
for a meet-and-greet. 
You must turn in your minutes by July 14 to be included. 
The finale is sponsored by the Friends of Limestone Library

This Week at the Library

 The library will be Closed on Monday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day

We will re-open on Tuesday, July 5 at 10:00 A.M.



Tuesday, July 5 will have an Egg Carton Turtle Take-it-and-Make craft that families can drop by to pick up. Each bag contains the needed parts and instruction. 




Storytime

Join us on Thursday, July 7 at 1:00 P.M. to make a Nebula Jar. Create your own universe in a Mason jar. This program is for children in Kindergarten through 5th.



Make your own Mosquito Repellant Candle on Friday, July 8 at 11:00 A.M.
Join us to learn how to make the candle that will keep away those annoying Mosquitos. This program is for adults and teens.



Computer Building Class takes place on Saturday, July 9 at 11:00 A.M.
Families can have fun learning how to put together a computer. No experience necessary.
