This week at the Library




Foundations of Investing     
                         Monday, May 2 at 6:30 P.M.                                               an educational program for people who are either new to investing or need a refresher. Adam Elroy, a financial advisor with Edward Jones of Kankakee, will be giving the presentation.

 

                 Join us on May the Fourth when                            Star Wars-themed books will be read during           Story Time and complete a themed craft.                     Try your hand at making Star Wars-themed paper airplanes to test their flying ability into our Death Star! Get a Wookie Cooking just for trying!


STEAM Workshop will take place in person Thursday, May 5 at 10:00 A.M.                                                                      A part of our Getting Ready for Kindergarten grant program, STEAM Workshop is geared for students entering kindergarten in 2022.                                                         This month we are doing Sensory Dough.                     Each participant who registers will receive a kit (while supplies last) at the event to complete an                                  experiment with Mr. William.                                                                                                                                            This program is sponsored by the Community Foundation  of Kankakee River Valley.



Do you enjoy plants? 

Come make a DIY Open Air Terrarium in the library on Monday, May 9 at 6:30 P.M. 

                     All supplies provided for the project,                          there is no charge.



Adult Book Club will be held on Tuesday, May 10 at 6:30 P.M. We will be discussing The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson, a novel about the Horse Librarians in Appalachia during the 1930s. Books are available for check out at the Front Desk.



       The Friends of the Library is hosting
a Pallet Painting Night
on Tuesday, May 17, 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M.
Blank Pallets and Art Supplies provided.
Creativity encouraged.
You may request another team logo in advance as well as make your own.
Register today! Space is limited
There is a fee of $30 which must be paid before before craft night

Upcoming Programs at the Library


 It's the Final Week of The Book Sale!


The Friends of the Library Semi-Annual Book Sale ends Friday, April 29. Make sure to come in to build your home collection!







Writer's Group

Tuesday, April 26
6:30 P.M. - 7:30 P.M.


We plan to edit and critique each other's work, becoming better writers in the process. When you sign up, please include your email address so we can send your writing piece to other members to critique ahead of time.
Our next meeting will be May 24.




Storytime


Story Time has moved to Wednesdays. We will meet at 10:15 A.M. in person with Mr. William to read an exciting picture book or two and work on a craft to help preschoolers discover the joy of reading!






Every Saturday, we have a new Take-It-and-Make-It craft that anyone can pick up. The crafts are geared for children in 1st through 5th grades. 
You can post your finished product on Facebook or Instagram and tag Limestone Township Library District.

Programs at the Library!

 



The Book Sale is Here!

The Friends of the Library Semi-Annual Book Sale takes place starting Monday, April 11 through Friday, April 29 during library hours.



Adult Book Club
 

 Tuesday, April 12 at 6:30 P.M. in person. 

We will be discussing The Chancellor by Kati Marton, a biography about recently retired German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Books are available for check out at the Front Desk.


Storytime


Story Time has moved to Wednesdays. We will meet at 10:15 A.M. in person with Mr. William to read an exciting picture book or two and work on a craft to help preschoolers discover the joy of reading!



Science Demonstration with Ms. Holly and Ms. Faith

April 13 at 5:00 P.M. 

Watch as our intrepid staff members demonstrate a science experiment using items you have at home. This program is for kids in 1st through 5th grades.


Scrabble Night

We are celebrating National Scrabble Day on Wednesday, April 13 with an open Scrabble Night for all ages. Come at 6:30 P.M. and play your best words to score the most points!

We are celebrating Earth Day on April 23 at 1:00 P.M. by creating Earth Day Seed Paper. The whole family can join in as we mush paper and seeds together to create plantable paper for various garden items.

This Week at the Library


We are Celebrating National Library Week! 

When you come in and show us that you "Checked In" on Facebook this week, we will give you a chance ticket for one of our gift baskets on display! One basket is for Adults, the other is for Teens.

Our younger patrons can guess the number of jelly beans on the Front Desk. The winner will receive the box of Jelly Beans.

Drawing will take place on Monday, April 11 for the Baskets and Jelly Beans.


Storytime is Moving to a New Day

Starting on April 7, Storytime will now take place on Wednesday Mornings for the Pre-K set!

Join Ms. Holly and Mr. William as they read some fun books and have a craft to inspire of love of reading in children.
