Library Closing on Wednesday, March 18
In the interest of the safety of our patrons, Limestone
Township Library District is closing Wednesday, March 18 until further notice.
This decision follows ongoing conversations with local health officials, the
announcement that schools statewide will be closing, and the announcement of additional
restrictions mandated for the restaurant industry.
The health and safety of our patrons and our staff is our first
priority. Early action to increase social distancing is the best way to contain
the spread of COVID-19 according to the CDC. We feel that closing the library
is the best way to protect the health of our community at this time.
Please be aware that Prairie Cat has suspended all holds and
RAILS has suspended delivery through the end of the month. We will stop all charging
of overdue fines and waive existing fines. All due dates have been extended through April
7. We encourage you to keep the materials at home and enjoy them.
You can continue to use the library without visiting by
downloading e-books and e-audio books through Libby (smart phone app). Download
books and movies with Omni through the library’s website. E-books for e-kids
with picture books and early chapter books can be found on Tumble Books. You can also explore World Book Online
through our website.
Stay connected with us on Facebook, Instagram, and our website
for more ideas for things to do with your library card along with ways to stay
healthy.
We will continue to monitor the situation and reassess as more information
becomes available. Closing the library is a difficult decision that we have
made only because of these extraordinary circumstances. Staff will be working
on special projects within the library or remotely, as circumstances allow. It
is always possible to contact the library by phone (815-939-1696), or messages
on our website or Facebook.
In the meantime, we are a community, we are in this together,
and we’re looking forward to seeing you soon.
