6th Grade - 12th Grade  

Come to the Library with your friends to study in the meeting room. Use various resources at the Library for class projects. Library staff will be on hand to give assistance. This is our end of the month Pizza Party, please register in advance.

Storytime

Enjoy the mix of crafts, stories, and music to help young children develop a love for reading. Parents and guardians can bring their 6-months to 5-year-old children.

Electronic Petting Zoo with Best Buy

6:00 P.M.- 7:00 P.M.
Family Event
Curious about the various tablets and devices available? Looking for some gift ideas? Then join us for a night of trying out various devices in a no pressure situation. Staff from Best Buy will be on hand to answer any questions you might have about the devices on display.

Escape Room – After Hours Event
Friday, November 2nd
4:30 P.M. – 8:30 P.M.
9th Grade - Adult
Help a Union Soldier find his way back to his fort by looking for clues and pieces of the puzzle in the school house left behind by his commander. Small groups will have 15 minutes to solve the riddle. This event takes place in the Peterson Schoolhouse and costs $2.00 per person.

Lego Building – Family Style
Saturday, November 3rd
11:00 AM-1:00 PM

Pre-K &Up
Our Lego building blocks and your creativity can only add up to lots of fun at the library. Bring the family and join other Lego enthusiasts for a drop-in time of building fun. For children in Kindergarten and up and their family members.

Pumpkin Carving Contest
Wednesday, October 24th
6:00 P.M. - 7:30 P.M.
For kids in 3rd - 8th Grade
Come out to the Library and participate in a Pumpkin Carving Contest!
Pumpkins will be displayed and judged at the Fall Festival and the winners will be awarded.


Getting Ready for Kindergarten - Little Buck-a-Roo
Thursday, October 25th                               
6:30 P.M. – 7:30 P.M.
Ages 3 – 5 years old
Join us as we have fun playing cowboy as a part of our yearlong Getting Ready For Kindergarten (GRFK) program. You must be in the GRFK program in order to participate. This program is funded by a grant from the Community Works fund from the Community Foundation of Kankakee River Valley.




Fall Festival
Trunk or Treat
Saturday, October 27th
11:30 A.M. – 1:30 P.M.                 
Come out and enjoy some fun trunks, candy, games, and food!
Dress up in your Halloween costume and come enjoy the fun!

Monarch Book Club

Harbor House Presentation

It is Domestic Violence Awareness month. Join us as a representative from Harbor House speaks about how domestic violence affects our area and the simple ways that you can help.




Zentangle Project with Ellana Turrell
Saturday, October 13

For children in 1st  - 4th Grade
Discover fun and easy drawing with patterns. Learn how to draw animals or landscapes and fill them with patterns. There is no fee for this program, all supplies are provided.

Kids in 3rd – 5th Grade will meet each month to discuss a book from the Bluestem Award Nominee list. Books will be available at the Front Desk. This month’s selection is Funny Bones by Duncan Tonatiuh.

Warrior Workshop
Thursday, October 4th
6:30 P.M. – 7:30 P.M.
For people 12 years old and up
Join us as we discuss topics of safety preparedness such as situational awareness, layering protection, staging your home, and tips for parents, among a few. There will also be a hands-on interactive demonstration for anyone over 18, teaching proper striker and pepper spray usage.
