Route 66 on a
Tank of Gas: The Mother Road in Illinois

P.M.
Route
66 on a Tank of Gas shows the many Mother Road attractions along Illinois’ 300
miles of the highway. We explore the importance of the Travel corridor from
Chicago to St. Louis dating back centuries. Starting in the 1920s Illinois
became a leader in building “hard roads,” pulling the Land of Lincoln “out of
the mud” on modern ribbons of concrete. All the while, getting our kicks on
Illinois Route 66.
