Stop in at the Library for our Semi-Annual Book Sale sponsored by the Friends of the Library. We are now selling books at a $1 per bag The sale runs through Thursday, June 29th


University of Ill Extension Office- Engineer for a Day
Tuesday, June 27
2:00 P.M. -3:00 P.M.
3rd – 5th Grades
Presented by the University of Illinois Extension office, kids in 3rd-5th grades will take on the challenges an engineer faces. The kids will brainstorm how to solve it, design, build it, and test out their idea. Kids will learn how to solve real world problems using supplies they can find at home. This week’s challenge is Rockets and Space. This week’s challenge is Marble mazes and Roller coasters.




Author Visit – Drew Carriker
Tuesday, June 27th

Limestone resident Drew Carriker will read and discuss his new book, Randolph the Blue Nosed Reindeer.





Rubberband Art

Discover what you can create with something as simple as a rubberband.

Tiny Explorers at Night
Thursday, June 29th
6:30 P.M. – 7:30 P.M.
Playing at a number of stations, children will learn fine motor skills with the help of manipulatives. Activities are meant for children from ages 6 months to 5 years old.

Movie Day – A Dog’s Purpose
Friday, June 30th

All Ages
School is out! Come to the Library and watch a movie with your friends. Popcorn and Lemonade will be served


Fireworks Art
Monday July 3rd
1:00 P.M.
K-2nd Grade
Younger children will create their own designs inspired by fireworks. All supplies are provided there is no fee for this program.





Monarch Book Club

Kids in 1st -3rd Grade have their own book club. We will read the book of the month at our gathering time and have a crafting session.

Father/Child Lego Building

Make it a special day with Dad in an afternoon of building fun. For children in Kindergarten and older.

Ready, Set, Draw
Monday, June 19th
1:00 P.M.
Children in Grades K-2 will learn elementary steps of drawing while creating their own designs. All supplies are provided there is no fee for this program.


Read to the Dogs
Monday, June 19th
6:30 P.M. – 7:30 P.M.
Children will have a chance to read aloud to the trained therapy dogs on hand, giving the children a sense of confidence and companionship as they read. This event also takes place July 18th.

Join us as Char Morgan demonstrates how to make a fairy garden. All participants will leave with the start of their own special garden. All supplies are provided. There is no fee for this class.

Learn skills and tips from members of the professional Soccer staff to make your soccer playing ability that much better. Advanced registration is required.

Science Fiction and Horror short story writer and novelist Christopher Pender will visit with us to read from his new novel, The Phoenix. There will be a question-and-answer session as well.

Summer Reading Program – Reading By Design
We hope you are ready for a great summer reading program! This year’s theme encompasses programs that allow you to be the creator. Ages of the participants are children from Pre-K through Adults. Registration runs through June 17th. You must register for the reading program in person at the Library. 


Semi-Annual Book Sale
Starts Wednesday, June 7th
Stop in at the Library for our Semi-Annual Book Sale in the foyer. Hardbacks cost $1.00 each and paperbacks are $.25 each. Children’s books are $.25 each. There will be many different titles. The sale runs through Thursday, June 29th




Summer Reading Kick-Off

Join us for an afternoon of Easel Drawing as we celebrate our Summer Reading Program of Reading By Design. Create your own designs on easels we will have set up in the meeting room. Each person will get a 30-minute period to create a design from their imagination.

Container Gardening with Anna Stange

Anna Stange will show younger children how to make a starter container garden. All supplies are included, there is no fee for this program.


Greener, Cleaner with Anna Stange

University of Il Extension - Engineer for a Day!

Presented by the University if Illinois Extension office, kids in 3rd-5th grades will take on the challenges an engineer faces. A challenge will be introduced and that is when the fun begins. The kids will brainstorm how to solve it, design, build it, and test out their idea. Kids will learn how to solve real world problems using supplies they can find at home. This week challenge is Oil Spills and Sailboats.

Family Night at the ONU Strickler Planetarium – Eclipse: The Sun Revealed

Join us for a night time filed trip to the ONU Planetarium to learn about Solar Eclipses, how to safely watch them, and what we can learn that is otherwise hidden by the bright sun.
