This Week at the Library!


 
Read to the Dog, Monday, June 30  -  6:30 P.M. till 7:30 P.M.
Area certified therapy dogs will be at the Library and wish to have children read their favorite books to the dogs. If the child cannot read, parents can read to both the child and the dog. This program is for students in pre-kindergarten students and older along with their parents.

Kid Art Works, Tuesday, June 24 at 1:00 P.M.
Carra Mau-Bridges will instruct children using a variety of mediums: Canvas Painting, Origami, Drawing, and Watercolors. Each lesson will revolve around a famous artist. For children in grades Kindergarten thru Second grade.

Special Presentation – Celestial Zoo, Tuesday, June 24
6:30 – 7:30 P.M.
Olivet Nazarene University Planetarium is coming to do their special presentation about the stars and the planets lead by Steven Case, Science professor and Director of the Strickler Planetarium at ONU. This promises to be a special glow-in-the-dark evening for all family members. Call 815-939-1696 to register.

Movie Days, Wednesday, June 25
Enjoy the cool air conditioning as we watch some great pet movies. There will be free popcorn and lemonade. For all ages. Movie starts at 1:00 P.M. This week we are watching

Field Trip, Wednesday, June 25th - Make-a-Pizza at Beggar’s Pizza
2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M.
For kids in 5th through 8th Grade
Take a field trip in the summer time. The group will meet at Beggar’s Pizza in Bourbonnais where we will learn how to make a pizza. Cost of the program is $4.00. Call 815-939-1696 to register.


Lapsits, Thursday, June 26 at 10:00 a.m.
Children 2 and under are invited to join us for a wonderful interactive experience that incorporates music, stories and play activities as a part of this learning exploration.

Craft Day, June 26 at 1:00 P.M.
Have fun making a craft with Miss Pat that is something to bark about. This week we are making Pet Toys along with meeting Mr. Squiggles the cat. For children in grades 3rd through 5th. Call the Library at 815-939-1696 to register for this program.
 
Amish Herbal Remedies  - June 26th, 6:30 – 7:30
Join us for an evening of discovering  natural herbal remedies used in the Amish lifestyle that are also Evidence-Based. Internet databases with professional literature will also be discussed. This program is presented by Phyllis Myers, our Library Assistant, who lived in an “Amish” type community for 18 years and worked in a hospital library for several years. YA Book Club – Monday, June 30th, 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
A book club for the young adults in 6th through 8th grades. Read the book ahead of time and get together with others to discuss what you liked or didn’t like about the book. Our first book is Letters From Wolfie
